BAFTA have pulled accolades from British actor and producer, Noel Clarke, amidst an investigation into multiple accusations of sexual assault. The ‘Kidulthood’ actor recently received a BAFTA award for his outstanding contribution to British cinema whilst evidence was pending. The same award has now been suspended and the screenwriter’s BAFTA membership has since been removed.
A total of twenty women have come forward and described instances that involved groping, taking or sharing explicit pictures and professional misconduct.
Noel denies these allegations and states: “In a 20-year career, I have put inclusivity and diversity at the forefront of my work and never had a complaint made against me. If anyone who has worked with me has ever felt uncomfortable or disrespected, I sincerely apologise. I vehemently deny any sexual misconduct or wrongdoing, and intend to defend myself against these false allegations.”
The investigation surrounding the accusations is ongoing.
