A 42-year-old man has been arrested over an incident which allegedly saw former footballer and pundit Roy Keane receive a headbutt after Manchester United’s defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates.
Rumours of an assault swirled when a video circulated on social media showed both Roy Keane and fellow Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards confronting a man.
Sky Sports have confirmed the incident saying that Richards attempted to “defuse” the situation.
The Metropolitan Police refused to reveal the identities of anyone involved in the incident, but issued a statement that said: “Police are investigating an incident at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, September 3, during which a man was assaulted.”
“On Monday, September 4, a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault (ABH). The man has been taken into police custody,”
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
