Mavin Records singer Ayra Starr has shared the stunning visual for her latest song, ‘Beggie Beggie’ featuring Africa’s Boyfriend – CKay.
Directed by Director K, the accompanying video continues Nigeria’s ongoing cultural renaissance. Set against the backdrop of a Nollywood-inspired kickback, the visual explores the songstress’ ongoing grievance with an estranged lover and the extreme hoops one must leap through to gain faithfulness.
Speaking on the visual, Ayra explains – “Old Nollywood has had some of the biggest impact on Gen-Z fashion and style. I thought it would be fun and beautiful to re-create that era and its influence on pop culture as a whole. ‘Beggie Beggie’ is not just a sad song, it’s about a young woman seeing things for what they are”
First appearing on her critically-acclaimed debut – 19 & Dangerous, the track has unsurprisingly become a fan favorite. With Starr’s honey-rich vocals swaying sweetly alongside CKay’s delicate croons, the afropop power ballad is a must add to all playlists!
